We would like to update you regarding our new policy. Due to the recent acquisition of PSoft (the developer of H-Sphere Control Panel) by Comodo, we will be enforcing a new account growth policy for all clients under our Blowout Reseller Plan.
As a strategic move, Positive Software Corporation has merged with Comodo, giving H-Sphere more resources to compete with other major control panels to deliver the most fascinating user experience in managing clients control panel. Currently, new components such as SSL certificates has been added, making it the perfect match for H-Sphere solution. As a result to this merger and its added services, Comodo, as the new owner of PSoft, has implemented a new licensing fee structure by changing from a one-time licensing fee to a one-time PLUS a 20% recurrent annual fee for upgrades and supports. Because of this fact, we will need to limit the creation of H-Sphere Control Panel by our Resellers. Our "unlimited control panel policy" is therefore limited to 100 accounts. Thereafter, you will be billed just a one-time setup fee of $3/control panel account.
Important Note: Our Resellers are not allowed to advertise free hosting services on their website publicly. You are allowed to create and offer the free service to your clients, but marketing or advertising those services openly are strictly prohibited. We are not trying to restrict our Resellers’ marketing whatsoever, but offering free hosting to clients will not generate any sales income, which is the opposite of what we want you to be able to do as our Resellers. The other downside of free hosting accounts is that they use up our Reseller server’s resources such as disk space and bandwidth, which often result in
Server Abuse .

Dear Respective Reseller,
We would like to update you regarding our new IP Address assignment policy. Due to ARIN (American Registry for Internet Numbers) strict policy of IP Address assignment, we have to ask you to follow the following guidelines:
You are only allowed to assign dedicated IP address to website or domain names that REQUIRE a dedicated IP address to function. Such website or domain names must fall into the following category:
1. Website or domain names that uses its own SSL certificate to process online transaction. Such website must have a secure connection through https protocol using its own domain name (<https://www.customer-domain.com>). Website or domain names that are using your or our shared SSL protocol are NOT ALLOWED to use dedicated IP address (<https://something.worldispnetwork.com>)
2. Website or domain names that use applications which require dedicated an IP address to function. Such applications must be reviewed by our administrators to determine if it really requires a dedicated IP address to function. Before you assign any dedicated IP to such website, you are REQUIRED to email the details of the application to syshd@hostdepartment.com and the domain name which are going to use it.
If a website or domain name does not fall into the two categories above, you as a reseller are prohibited to assign a dedicated IP address to such website or domain name. Websites or domain names whose main purpose is to simply serve web pages does not require a dedicated IP address, so assigning one would be unnecessary and of no use.
We encourage you to update this policy to your customers so that they are aware it is not necessary to have a unique or dedicated IP address to run a website. Your customers can always use the stop gap domain assigned to their account to access their website(s) through the web while waiting for their domain or website to propagate properly through the internet.
IMPORTANT:
NEVER set up a web hosting plan which gives dedicated IP address automatically to newly created web hosting accounts. You are not allowed to do so. Our "free IP address policy" only applies to *necessary* IP address assignment. Any reseller that assigns IP address to websites or domain names that does not require it in the first place may be subjected to account suspension. Please use the IP addresses very carefully.

Dear Valued Reseller Clients,
We would like to update you regarding our new policy. Due to a recent issue we had with our data center, we will be enforcing a new signup guard policy for all clients under our resellers. Our newest data center, Terremark Worldwide, has zero tolerance on abusive websites, such as spammertizing, phishing, or copyright infringement sites. Our recent experience with them has proven to be most valuable, but not enjoyable, to both us and all of our clients.
They performed a Server IP NULL-ROUTE to us because of certain websites under our network, which means that if one of our shared IP is being NULL-ROUTED, the entire services on the server will not work at all. These actions affected not only us, but all of the hosting accounts that resided under the blade servers. Because of this, we have implemented a new module in our admin control panels, including yours. Host Department, LLC has been and will always be against any abusive websites.
Because of this, and the fact that our data center performed a proven disadvantageous action against us, we will need to work together to fight this global and growing threat together. As such, we will need your full cooperation.
On your admin control panel, you will see the new module under REPORT > NEW ACCOUNT FRAUD ANALYSIS. The purpose of this new module is for you (and us) to detect any abusive websites before they're even published on the web. You will see 3 types of statuses there; PENDING, PASS, and FAILED. Here are the breakdowns for each status:
• PENDING: This is the default status for ALL new signups under your reseller accounts.
• PASS: This status is for all websites that do not have any suspicious files in it. You will need to check every account under your reseller account using this module to detect any abusive website files.
• FAILED: Every abusive websites/accounts detected MUST have their status changed to FAILED. You will also need to DELETE the account immediately. Our Data Center does not provide a lengthy time frame for us. They expect the websites to be taken down no longer than 1 hour after receiving any complaints. It will be your responsibility to perform the necessary actions.
With the module, you can search accounts by their respective statuses. You will need to check all PENDING accounts' status EVERYDAY, and change it to either PASS or FAILED, depending on the contents of their websites. You will also need to absolutely make sure that the accounts are valid. In order to do this, you can create your own policy, call every new signups (to ensure the account is valid), or send all new signups with your own greeting emails with your own policy regarding the abusive websites included in them. It will be entirely up to you to implement, and we will back you up all they way. We cannot allow any similar actions taken by our Data Center in the future, as they can (and will) decide to disconnect our entire network.

We cannot stress this issue any more than we already have. You will need to make sure that this will be your FIRST PRIORITY, as we have done. Do NOT let abusive websites up and running, because this is a global issue faced by all hosting companies around the world. We need to FIGHT and STOP this together.
There will be severe penalties for every reseller detected with any type of abusive websites under them. Your reseller account might be suspended, or possibly deleted without any possibility of refund should complaints be sent to our data center regarding a particular account/website under your reseller accounts. You will need to be aware of any abusive website and we shall forward you every complaint we receive. Please make sure you take the appropriate actions as soon as possible.
Lastly, we are encouraging you to let everybody know about this global issue as we must fight this threat together in order to make our campaign a successful one. We would also like to thank you for your cooperation regarding this new policy. We do hope that we can make our network an abuse-free one.
Please note that we have a strict rule regarding this policy, and ignorance in following this new signup policy will likely result in account cancellation. Host Department LLC has the right to discontinue service, or deny access to anyone who violates our Policies or the terms and conditions shown on our plan comparison as well as on our AUP (http://www.hostdepartment.com/aup.htm) WITHOUT WARNING OR PRIOR NOTICE. No refunds of fees paid will be made if account termination is due to violation of the terms outlined on our AUP.

If you are already familiar with our H-Sphere reseller system, you can skip this whole procedure and may begin setting it up on your own with the help of the following online documentation:
We have divided the setup process into several steps. When you have completed this document, please click the SEND button below. On this section we are going to define your web hosting plans. There are two ways in doing this, the easy way and the advanced way (not so easy but more flexible). If you choose the easy way, you can always use the advanced one at a later date when you are more comfortable with the Reseller Control Panel. It is not that complicated, but you *must* spend time reading our reseller documentation to understand how to create web hosting plans. It’s your choice.
6.1 The Easy Way – Duplicating Host Department’s web hosting plans.
We will simply duplicate Host Department’s existing web hosting plans (in terms of resources your customers will get from the plans). You can name them differently to suit your company’s motto or branding, or you can just use the exact name. Next you can set your own pricing. It can be the same pricing as ours, or you can set a higher or lower price. It’s up to you. Now, please fill out the table below for each hosting plans.
Note – If you don’t want to offer the same billing period to your customers, please leave it N/A (Not Available) and we will not create such billing period(s).

In order to continuously improve our service quality, Host Department is implementing a thorough server optimization campaign through out our Windows Base hosting plans. The campai gn is done to resolve servers' problems by implementing the next level of load balancing solution, and is one of the most crucial steps to be taken to increase stability and performance. As part of the campaign, Host Department provides specific servers for ASP.NET, Cold Fusion and ASP with custom dll components to accommodate your applications under Microsoft advance technology.
Your website must be allocated under a plan that is associated with the server which is specifically set up according to the application platform your site uses (Standard/ASP with Custom DLL/ASP.Net/ColdFusion). For example: a website which utilizes ColdFusion technology must be hosted under APPLICATION 1500 PS-CF Plan, otherwise the CF application will not work at all. So, please be cautious when you assign a hosting plan to a specific website particularly when you create the hosting plans yourself.

1. PS-STD : Plan for standard sites (html, asp, php, cgi and perl) without Custom DLL (this includes APPLICATION 1000 Plan)
2. PS-NET : Plan for .Net Application (.net 1.1 and 2.0).
3. PS-DLL : Plan for application sites (asp, php, cgi and perl) with custom DDL installed (Only famous vendors components can be installed and only downloaded from official website but not from customer pointed location)

TIPS: Don’t be confused in setting your plan name and pricings. Our web hosting plans have been proven to SELL very effectively. So you won’t have to worry about how much space and bandwidth to give out, which features you should or shouldn’t include in a hosting plan, etc. Forget the headache and just copy our plans above. Give them your own plan names and pricing and START SELLING, rather than spending too much time configuring your web hosting plans! Just don’t put pricey fees on the plans. You want to stay within the competition.
6.2 The Advanced Way – Creating and defining your own web hosting plans
If you want to get to the root of running your own web hosting company rather than to start making money *right away*, we suggest you to go through this step. This is intended if you are *willing* to go through the series of our reseller documentations and read them patiently while figuring out yourself how you want to sell your own web hosting services. We cannot *do this for you* like the easy way above. Please read the documentation and try whatever you can on your own. We would also suggest you to always submit your website to search engines, a good place to start is the open directory project at http://www.dmoz.org. Other places to start marketing your web hosting services are forums, such as www.webhostingtalk.com, or web hosting directories. If you are on a low-budget marketing campaign, don’t go to high profile hosting directories such as tophosts.com, hostindex.com, but instead look for a more low cost directories to advertise.
Also, it’s always advisable to reach your local market, especially when they can reach you directly through the phone. You can reach your local market through print media advertising, or through the GOOGLE Ad-Words program. You can target demographic regions near you.
